xPL Meteor
The CTI Meteor is a small device that attaches to the serial port of the PC to provide caller ID and other telephone line status information.
The Meteor works with both BT and UK cable networks, and is available from Crucible Technologies.
The xPL Meteor service allows all the functions of the CTI Meteor to be integrated into an xPL environment. Trigger messages are sent to inform any xPL-aware application of events such as an incoming call (complete with calling telephone number, if available), a call being answered, a DTMF digit being pressed, the phone going off-hook, and various other status events.
Integrated with other xPL software components, such as the xPLHal Home Automation Manager and a suitable xPL Text-To-Speech application, you can easily have caller's names or numbers announced to you when the telephone rings.
